Technology innovation trends to enable business opportunities

It is no exaggeration to say that these days, everyone is excited (and maybe even scared!) about the new possibilities created by Artificial Intelligence. With all these fantastic features and the impressive speed of AI-powered tools, shall we, as humanity, maintain our jobs and lives as we know them? How will it influence our future? Will the AI win over humanity one day?

At a recent SAP Networking Event for Innovation and Intelligence in Riga, we had a lot of discussions about that. So far, the conclusions are optimistic: according to Timo Elliot, SAP Global Innovation Advocate, AI-powered tools will help humanity to remain… more human – since now we have a chance to hand over all tedious, repetitive routine tasks to AI-powered apps and pay more attention to complicated, creative and challenging goals.
SAP products already have a lot of examples of AI-powered features – like tax compliance, invoice processing, financial audits, AI-powered predictions of performance and customer behavior, also AI-based demand forecasting, process automation, guided buying, and many more. You can find features based on AI models in SAP applications available via SAP BTP: you’ll be impressed by these new possibilities!
Kristaps Banga, head of Innovation at Accenture, continued the topic of recent scientific solutions used in business with a presentation on space technologies. Surprisingly, they are relevant not only for aerospace, defense, or agriculture (with all kinds of GEO monitoring). Apparently, these technologies are also used in financial services (commodity trading, investment climate risk assessments), communications and media (GEO-based advertising and tagging, broadband services for remote locations), the energy sector (renewable energy planning, network monitoring, supply chain insights), products and life sciences (monitoring of coastal, snow and ice, water ecosystems), health and public services (disease detection, contamination control and monitoring, also monitoring of environmental impact), and many more. Some of these features are also used in SAP products. For example, satellite-based supply chain monitoring helps validate EUDR compliance (EU anti-deforestation regulation): integration of SAP with LiveEO allows for the creation of notifications directly in SAP, an overview of all suppliers and their deforestation status, along with reports generation and access to the historical data.
Stefan Froberg, head of SAP CX in Nordics and Baltics, presented SAP Intelligent Enterprise Suite – a combination of SAP S/4HANA and Customer Experience Suit allowing to meet the modern challenges – like personalization and consistent customer experience across the whole enterprise, data privacy, AI bots with a high level of service, self capabilities services, loyalty programs, etc. Donald Ross, Head of SAP Talent Intelligence, learning and Engagement Solutions, continued talks about innovation in SAP products with an overview of current trends and how  SAP SuccessFactors Human Experience Management Suite helps meet them (Growth Portfolio, Talent Intelligence Hub, Skills Ontology, and more). Very exciting!
Along with all these inspiring examples of modern techniques already being used to improve business results, the speakers presented some success stories featuring SAP products:

  • Planning and re-engineering the budget at Rimi Baltic with SAP SAC Planning;
  • Stenders achieving business and sustainability goals with SAP Business ByDesign;
  • FellTech mastering lifecycle marketing with SAP Emarsys;
  • Grindeks improving staff productivity improvements and enabling innovative internal communication with SAP SuccessFactors.
Apart from all these exciting presentations, we had many discussions with our colleagues and SAP customers about how these new technologies will change our lives and businesses. And though we must use all these technologies cautiously, they can hugely help reach business goals. So do not hesitate to contact us to discuss how you could start using AI-powered tools to increase your business results!
